Fri. 4.1

With the season only a few weeks away, it has been quite hectic at HSM.  Luiz's clutch has still not arrived from Quartermaster and the Calico bearings did not end up fitting correctly in the bottom end of his motor. Therefore, Hugh sent the bearings back to receive a new set but they were out of stock and would send a new set as soon as they could. So the waiting continues...

After the long and arduous year in 2010, the #999 BMW had some wear showing.  The right front brake rotor had completely cracked and the car needed a new brake master cylinder. The car also needed a new pressure plate after the old one had worn out and caused difficulty shifting and emitted a terrible vibration throughout the cockpit.

The car was to get new pads and rotors with some basic adjustments being made to prepare the car for the year ahead.  Hugh also adjusted the BMW's brake pedal to Cecil's needs, as he stated that it was too spongy and long in stroke.

With the transmission reinstalled, Hugh then fabricated the hooks for the window nets, as the car did not have them before.  The car was scheduled to take part in NASA's April 2nd event at Lime Rock Park for a 'Test & Tune' day but it got canceled due to weather.

The #22 Green Monster received more decals and vinyl, and some new interior bits including a new RacePak and steering wheel with more controls at Hugh's fingertips.

The rear wheel wells on both sides now have been ground down to bare metal and recoated in white paint and the front and rear Moton shocks have been removed and sent to Moton for revalving.

The other few things left are to hook up the headlights (were not connected last year).  Hugh stated, "There were way too many times last year where I should've had my headlights in use.  When it got dark towards the end of some races, it was difficult to see sometimes so I'm changing that for this year."
