Mon 4.11

The days are counting down to the first race of the season at New Jersey Motorsports Park's Lightning Circuit. Before touching on that, Hi Speed Motorsports would like to say that they are proud to be an Official NASA Northeast Tech Center along with shops such as Turner Motorsport and TKX Performance. Their job is to make sure that you and your car are properly prepared for any track events.

Now let's move to the cars. First on the list is Luiz's white #54 BMW M3. With the absolute worst luck last year after blowing two motors, Luiz stated, "This year is the year. This is the year in which I can improve my driving skill and learn from the others around me as well. Last year was just terrible man.  Everytime I started to get in the groove of things, something would set me back. Not this time. Not this year."

Over these past few weeks have been nothing but hard work on the #54 car. As stated in a previous story, the Calico coated bearings did not properly fit the engine and therefore had to be sent back. Unfortunately, Calico did not have any ones in stock for the car, so Luiz was forced to purchase another motor to use for the first race weekend. The cars new clutch system was not ready in time so Hugh had to reinstall the clutch that was used last year. While dealing with the drivetrain, the 3.91 rear differential was removed from the car and was replaced with another unit.

Differential removed.  Now to install a different one.

The #54's brakes were also changed and adjusted to Luiz's specifications. Exterior-wise, the car remains unchanged. White body, blue numbers and decals. But just wait, because soon the car will be getting a full makeover with a custom livery designed in-house by Griff at Hi Speed Motorsports.

Here is a sneak-peek at what the #54 has in store for the competition:

Cecil's #999 BMW M3 is next to catch up on. In the last issue, the car received new brakes after completely cracking one of the front rotors in half after last years' grueling events. The car was reliable, both Cecil and Hi Speed Motorsports hope to have it stay that way.

The last few adjustments were made these past few days, as well as a few visual changes. The car will be running LTW D-Force wheels on Hoosier racing tires instead of the Kosei K1's used last year. The car was taken to the dyno to get power figures and is now ready to race in GTS3!
