Hi Speed Motorsports. Saturday, March 19th.  Luiz's block arrived at the shop after being fully refurbished.

Upon re-assembly, Calico coated bearings and ARP hardware was installed to give that extra bit of durability to the bottom end of the motor.  By next week, new piston rings, head gasket, and clutch should be installed.

Next, the left rear fender well of the #22 Green Monster was completely ground down.  The inner fenders were then trimmed a bit because of the tire's sidewall rubbing quite hard on it during last year's events.

The Green Monster also got the number board made for the side of the car. With a white background, black lettering is used for the numbers.  The car is far from finished in terms of vinyl/graphics, so what you see now might not be what you'll see at the racetrack in April!

Griff's M3 got the 'summer wheels' put on.  An aggressive set of rare Kinesis K57 17"x 8.5/9.5" 3-Piece wheels. Upon removal of the winter wheels/tires, the car's coilovers were also adjusted to a lower ride height for that perfect stance. Griff also 'test-fitted' the Green Monster's wheel setup.  He was quite happy with the way it turned out.

Future GTS driver, Tom Y. had his 328is on the lift for a differential change. Since his car did not come with a limited-slip differential, it was essential that he change it before any competition/racing took place.  Hugh replaced the stock 328 differential with a limited-slip 3.91 unit from an M3.  This would give Tom the traction and response needed to take on the competition in GTS2 next year.

Next week, we take a look at two upcoming Hi Speed Motorsports' GTS BMW builds. An E36 & E46.
STAY TUNED!
