Fri 3.11

Friday was a busy day at Hi Speed Motorsports as rear brakes were to be done on an Integra GS-R, a trailer hitch to be installed on a Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG, suspension on an M3, cylinder head reassembly, and more vinyl work was to be done on the #22 Green Monster.  We even got a visit from our own Cecil Ramotar near the end of the day!

Rear brake overhaul on Integra.

Griff got to work on the vinyl pieces and decals, while Hugh set out to work on the cars.  First up was the Integra.  The car needed rear brakes badly as the rotors and pads were well-worn and one of the calipers had seized completely.  After the Acura's job was completed, the Mercedes was next.  The ML63 had just been recently purchased but did not come with a trailer-hitch.  Hi Speed was to the rescue and even though the quad tailpipes made it a tight fit, they got the job done.

Next was suspension work on an E36 M3, which was Griff's own daily driver/track rat.  Looking forward to this year, HSM had installed AKG Motorsport bushings to stiffen up the chassis a bit, with rear-trailing arm bushings (RTAB's), front-control arm bushings, rear shock mounts, and so on.  Being on TEIN coilovers, the M3 lacked the stiffness of a  full-on race suspension, but it was the little things that would make the difference. Hugh then put his attention towards cylinder head reassembly for one of the BMW's in the shop.

After that was finished, the names, logos, and dash plaques were to be made and installed on the four BMW's racing in NASA GTS this year. The plaques are not quite finished yet, but stay tuned!

Various decals being made.
Around closing time, Cecil Ramotar stopped by to say hello and pan out what extra details design-wise that he'd like to add to his racecar.  But overall, Friday was just another hectic day at Hi Speed Motorsports.

To come next week, HSM awaits Luiz's new clutch and reassembles his motor. STAY TUNED!
